    Name change while moving NTFS folder names to another drive


    When I do a CUT/PASTE of folders to another drive sometimes the folder name in the target changes. I use the NTFS filesystem of windows 10 latest version. What can this be ?

    If you desire a name change please do the following:

    • Ask yourself if you really need a name change.
    • Make sure you have a good reason.
    • Know what you want your new name to be before you request a name change.
    • Send Urlyin a PM containing a decent explanation of your reason as well as your desired name.

    File name changes when moving files from an NTFS formatted drive to a ReFS formatted drive (ReFS version 3.4)

    Sometimes when I move a file from an NTFS formatted drive to a ReFS formatted drive the file name changes a bit. The name on the target drive (ReFS formatted) takes the original name of the file (before I renamed the original file on the NTFS drive) . is
    this an index problem or is this an incompatibiliy between NTFS and ReFS when moving files ?

    For example :

    drive c (NFTS formatted : file name 'Ab.TXT' renamed to "11.TXT" later.

    drive d (ReFS formatted )

    move "11.TXT" from drive C to drive d

    new file name on drive d: "Ab.TXT" (back the original name (before renaming it).

    Folder names changed after folder move

    I have windows 10. I am working with pictures. I created a new file folder and moved about 30 other folders under the new folder. The 30 folders all had names I had created. After the move, all those folder name are gone and just the date of each file
    folder is there. I tried undoing, and it didn't bring back my folder names. Any suggestions? I have moved folders many times in the past, and this has never happened.
