Windows 10: Disable Microsoft accounts on Win 8 and Win 10

I have seen another thread that is now locked and it was outlined in there but the user that posted it had some things named wrong as by his words english was a second language and he was using his native language in windows.

Anyway the general run down: You are prompted at reboot or update installation to sign in with a microsoft account but you are tired of the prompt as you don't want or never will want to sign into your computer with your microsoft account to reduce tracking. Follow the following steps.


In your search bar type gpedit and click on edit group policy.


In there expand the following Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options


Next double click on Accounts: Block Microsoft accounts and set the pull down to "Users can't add or log on with Microsoft accounts"


click apply


click OK.


I did this on win 10 pro but I assume its doable on home as well as i could do it on win 8 home.

Upgrading from WIN 8 to Win 10

I have a desktop running Win 8

Can anyone provide a step by step upgrade path/instructions to delete Win 8 and load/run Win 10..

Win 10 boots...

I can't answer to the speed of Win-8 booting. I tried the Win-8 preview and went back to Win-7 after a month. They say that Win-8.1 is a lot better than Win-8 was.
My Win-10 TP is working well ATM.

 

How to disable Win+L in Windows 10?

As far as I know, there is no mean to disable only one Win+X keyboard shortcut.

What I can suggest is to disable completely Win+X hotkeys:

1. Type regedit in RUN or Start search box and press Enter. It'll open Registry Editor.
   
2. Now go to following key:
   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
   
3. In right-side pane, create a new DWORD NoWinKeys and set its value to 1
   

1. Close Registry Editor and restart your system. After reboot, all Win+X hotkeys will be turned off in your system.
   

To re-enable them, delete the DWORD NoWinKeys created in step 3.
