So I have one Lenovo L24q-30 monitor that is flickering and is ALSO blurry while connected to my work ThinkPad. The other L24q-30 is 100% okay. Both are connected through the ThinkPad USB-C Dock Gen 2. One is connected via an HDMI and the other is connected via a DisplayPort cable. My computer is connected to the dock via a USB C to USB C.

In my settings, i am only seeing 1920 x 1080 and 3 other resolutions, to 800 x 600 for the monitor that is having issues. The other is showing 15 options. From "2560 x 1440 Recommended" to 1280 x 1024.

I have attempted to troubleshoot this myself by uninstalling the display adapter driver and reinstalling but it did not work. I have also tried deleting the "Generic PnP Monitor" and replacing it with a similar Lenovo model but that also did not help at all.

    A few other notes:

    • I plugged in MacBook Pro to the dock and both displays worked fine so that should remove the dock, cables, and monitors from being the potential issues (this is why i'm posting in the windows10 reddit. This issue seems to be related to the OS).
    • The computer doesn't recognize the model of the monitors but refers to them as Generic PNP Monitor
    • I have updated all of the drivers through Lenovo Service Bridge, Intel's update portal, and Windows' built in updates

    What are my next steps?

Monitor is detected but display resolution is not correct

    One of two possibilities:

    1. Driver is still not correct, as you don't have the listed resolution to go to recommended for that monitor. If it is using a driver win 10 installed and not the manufacturer, then you need to try the manufacturer driver, list the display driver from device manager and we can go from there.

    2. Card in PC (Is it a card, or integrated mainboard graphics?) doesn't support that resolution, hence driver not listing it, etc.

Other possibility - what does the system show for the monitor listed in device manager?

Windows doesn't have correct resolution for External Monitor

I have an Asus Laptop running windows 10. Just purchased a used HP L2208w monitor. using HDMI to VGA adapter since monitor doesn't have HDMI. I have googled for a couple hours and can't find a solution anywhere.

    Laptop monitor, everything is great.

HP monitor is blurry, most likely due to the wrong resolution set by windows, which is 1024 x 768. Monitor recommends 1680 x 1050.
How do I get windows to let me change the resolution to 1680 x 1050 for the external monitor?

    I've Tried:

    1. "updating" graphics driver to each of the three drivers on my computer by going into device manager.
    2. I went to HP website and downloaded latest driver for this exact monitor. restarted PC. no change.
    3. Connecting my wife's mac, which recognized and knew it was projecting to external monitor, but the monitor itself turned off, apparently detecting no signal. Couldn't get the mac to actually display on the monitor. Interestingly, in the display settings,
the mac also didn't find the correct 1680 x 1050 setting and ALSO defaulted to 1024 / 768 (with no option that I could see for the correct resolution).
    4. Various restart and unplug/plug combinations.
    Please help!

    Blurry monitors

    Hello Sheldon,

I'd follow what Greg posted, in addition to some of the other suggestions listed here. All are some great ideas and steps to take. In addition you can callibrate your display

    1. Use the Windows key + I keyboard shortcut to open the Settings app.
    2. Click Display.
    3. Click the Advanced display settings link.
    4. Make sure you're using the Recommended screen resolution for your display, and click the Color calibration link to launch the utility.
