Must a Windows Update DCHU driver that publishes a software component only also publish a...

    Hello -

I am creating a DCHU driver for Windows Update that must only publish a software app which in turn downloads a custom driver for the hardware to be updated. Ie, the package that I am putting together has no need to, and in fact should not, install a kernel driver directly.

So my question is: should I be able to put together and publish an Extension INF with associative Component INF without having to also publish a Base INF? It seems that a Base INF is needed, according to: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/install/using-an-extension-inf-file, which says: "Every device must have one base INF...".

Ideally, what I presumed that I needed would be to publish an Extension INF and a Component INF, but not a Base INF.

Thanks for any guidance on this.

Blocked Publisher doesn't show up in Untrusted Publishers - how can I unblock the publisher?

    Hi,

The software publisher won't appear in the Untrusted Publisher tab. Since, the steps you've provided didn't work, you unblock the publisher using Command Prompt. Please follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows X, then select Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Press Shift + right-click on the program you want to unblock.
    • Click Copy as path, then paste in Command Prompt.
    • Hit Enter.

    Let us know the result.

  3. Blocked Publisher doesn't show up in Untrusted Publishers - how can I unblock the publisher?

I've already seen the following Post:

    Hi samuel,

Welcome to Microsoft Community and thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

I understand the inconvenience that you are experiencing. I will definitely assist you.

To unblock a software publisher try the below steps:

    • Open Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.

    • Go to the Content tab, Look under the Certificates section.

    • Click on Publishers button.

    • Select the Untrusted Publishers tab.
      • Select the Publisher you wish to unblock and click the Remove button.
This post does not solve my problem with a Blocked publisher, because When I check the "Untrusted Publisher's tab in Internet Explorer. there are no entries to remove.

Any other way to resolve this?

    Blocked Software Publishers

When trying to install driver and support software downloaded from the samsung site I get the error message "This publisher has been blocked from running software on your machine.

I have been in contact with support about this and all they were able to suggest is the same things I was able to find in old google searches.

Adding the site to the trusted list via Internet Explorer.

Changing UAC control settings to the lowest.

    Running program as administrator.

How can this feature of Windows (blocking certain publishers) be disabled?

If not then will this be fixed in a update very soon?

Is there any other way around this such as removing certificates from software completely (I'm willing to make my own judgement call on what I install)

Because if not then Windows 10 is useless and I would rather go back to Windows 7 than not be able to use all the features on my computer because driver and utility programs are being blocked.
