Windows 10: Going back to previous windows 10 home edition

I bought a laptop which came preinstalled with windows 10 home.Recently i got a windows 10 pro product key.I tried to activate it..but it seems like it was a used one.The issue is now i have to activate it.Can someone help me on how i can go back to my previous version.
