  1. BSOD Reference_by_pointer after plugging in audio interface

A few weeks ago I have bought an audio interfaceswissonic to record guitar on my computer. That worked fine for a while, accept that when I unplugged the device I got a BSOD message pfn_list_corrupt.

After remembering that in Windows 95 you had to unmount a usb advice first, I went to look for a possiblity to do the same with W10.
I managed to find that option, tried it and now I have two problems.

First, I have a crack coming out of my speakers which I cannot get rid of.

Secondly, Windows now goes directly into BSOD message reference_by_pointer whenever I plug my audio interface INto the laptop.

Now, amidst battling to get Windows properly updated and gettting all the unwanted synching and backing up of my data to several clouds to stop, I have reinstalled the drivers for my realtek build-in speakers and the audio interface several times before and after full update. All to no avail.

So now I am stuck with very little go on. Any help would be appreciated.

Side note. For recording midi, I have a third low latency driver installed asio4all V2. This driver also suffers from crackling. But this one is only used on within a specific program.

    :)

    Multichannel audio interface in/out routing

    Hi Paulo,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community forums.

    • What is the make and model of your external audio interface?
    • Which routing application are you using?

The configurations of inputs and outputs on any audio interface is dependent on the hardware and its supporting software. Any audio interface with more than 2 inputs and 2 outputs, should ideally give the user an option to map the
Input and Output Config, according to his interest.

I suggest you to go through the user manual provided by your audio interface's manufacturer to know how to set up the control surface.

If it doesn't explain how to configure, I suggest you to get in touch with the audio interface's manufacturer to know how to configure the same.

    Hope it answers.

    Regards,

  3. Windows 10 Pro BSODs REFERENCE_BY_POINTER

    Dell XPS 9380, Windows 10 Pro x64 b1909.

Over the last few weeks I have encountered occasional BSODs with STOP code 0x00000018 (REFERENCE_BY_POINTER),. Initially these seemed to occur primarily during shutdown, but over the last day or two they have become more frequent and occur at any time. I
can find no obvious or recurring events in the System or Application logs that precede the BSODs.

I have carried out the following, and will see if any of it helps:

    • Updated drivers via Device Manager (graphics, WLAN NIC, Intel Management Engine Interface).
    • Updated drivers via MS Update (Realtek - Extender, Intel System).
    • Ran chkdsk on the C: drive (OK).
    • Ran sfc /scannow - fixes made.
    • Ran dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth (OK).
    • Ran Windows Memory Diagnostic (OK).
I have collected together a few minidump files and the MSInfo32 data and uploaded them here:

    https://1drv.ms/u/s!AgvQnXBXmOqXgucvyOaq_n5FghyNbQ?e=MCDu89

    Please advise.

  4. BSOD Reference_by_pointer after plugging in audio interface

    Reference_By_Pointer

So far none of the suggestions work or are irrelevant to Windows 10 (latest updates included).

Though plagued by frequent (+/- every 3 days) blue screen crashes (BSOD) with the error PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA and to date none of the suggested fixes able to overcome the problem, I assume that it is insurmountable for Microsoft and will thus just
    have to wait ...

Now and since the latest upgrade/updates were installed, we have begun being hit by BSOD Error REFERENCE_BY_POINTER. None of the attempted solutions here or anywhere else have worked. We have

twice crashed in three hours while working.

This is happening on Dell Inspiron 3537 with 8GB RAM. No new hardware has been added. Is there a solution for this yet or will we have to simply grin and bear it as we have to with the nonpaged area error?
