Windows 10: Paint 3d crashed and deleted my saved project

I have aeen quite a few questions about this bit have ywt to find a solution for myself.


I opened paint 3d and then opened my project that i had saved two days prior and the application crashed soon after. When i reopened the application my project was missing. I tried to search for the missing project but it could not be found. I went to the



%localappdata%\packages\microsoft.mspaint....\localstate\projects


in my file explorer and found the saved checkpoints however there is no project file to import into the app. There is only a poor quality thumbnail image of the project that you can import but this doesn't help me. I have tried creating a new user and copying the files, i have tried troubleshooting it found no problems other than apps crashing which it cannot fix , i have tried system restore point. None of this has made my project accessable.


When you access the local file without opening it through paint 3d, there are many files marked bin which i have learned are the files that make up the project elements so why is there no way to use those? I want my project back please i was saving it religiously and thought it would be safe. And if it cannot be then i ask what is the point in savings checkpoints that cannot be used to recover projects?


Im extremely disappointed because this app seemed great but has crashed many times and caused my new pc to freeze and even black screen.

And now it deleted my saved work? Any help would be great I'm devastated i worked very hard on this project. Even if i could get an un editable image of the project i would be less devastated. For instance the poor quality thumbnail, if it were a normal quality image of the project it would have been of some help at least

Paint 3d projects deleted

Paint 3d was not responding, so i did a reset. It said no files would be deleted, but they all were. I still have files i saved as glb files, but 2d projects are gone. A system restore did not help. Nor did a recover search for the Ms Paint app data bin
files. Are my projects gone forever?

 

Paint 3D deleted all my projects!

I opened Paint 3D today for a project, but when I went into the Open section, all my projects were gone. I saved every single one of them as Paint 3D projects so I could work on them because I needed them for schoolwork, but now the Open section is empty.
How do I get my projects back?

We understand your concern as you are having difficulties with Paint 3D app on your PC. In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below:

• What is the Version and Build of Windows 10 installed? (Type
  winver in Windows search/Run command)
  
• What is the Version of Paint 3D installed on the PC?
  
• Did you try opening any other project or did you try to open the same project on a different device?
  
• Are you aware of any recent changes on the PC prior to this issue?

However, we would suggest you to perform step 1, 3 & 7 from this article:

If the issue persists, then we would suggest you uninstall and reinstall Paint 3D app.

1. Close Paint 3D app. Press
   Windows + X key.
   
2. Select Windows PowerShell (Admin)
   from the list.
   
3. Copy and paste this command:
   Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.MSPaint* | Remove-AppxPackage
   
4. Press Enter key and once the process completes, restart the PC.
   
5. After restart go to Microsoft Store and install
   Paint 3D.

If the issue persists, then we would suggest you to create a new administrator user account and check, refer this article to
create a local user or administrator account in Windows 10.
