  1. Windows 10 Installation on a Samsung SSD Issue

    Hello,

I recently bought a 1 TB Samsung SSD, and I have wanted to install Windows on it. However, the problem persists that the installation resets after rebooting the computer. So, the installation never completes fully. I have tried using Rufus and installing the ISO onto there, and yet the problem persists. I have also tried changing the boot order so that it always boots off of the USB, however the installation still resets. I was just wondering what the fix to this issue was, since I know that it exists. Some other things I have tried:

    - Cleaning the SSD completely and deleting the volume, so that all the memory is Unallocated.

    - Making sure that the SSD is set to GPT and setting the Bootable USB like that as well.

    - Used CMD to clean the disk completely to ensure that there are no problems with it.

I feel like it's also worth mentioning that my computer had a very hard time detecting the SSD in the installation media creation tool, however I managed to get that fixed.

I'm sure the problem lies somewhere between the BIOS and the USB bootable stick, but I am not entirely sure. If I need to post additional info, I'd gladly do so. Thanks a bunch for the answer!

    :)

Win10 clean install on Samsung SSD 850 EVO

BLUF: SSD is not listed ubder "Where do you want to install Windows?"

    Steps Complete:

    1. I've create a Win10 bootable install usb.

    2. I connect the new Samsung SSD 850 EVO via SATA.

    3. I reboot PC and verify SSD is seen by the motherboard/BIOS

    4. Begin Win10 install via usb.

    5. Get to "Where do you want to install Windows?" and the SSD is not listed

    Problems:

    1. Samsung does not offer a driver for the 850 on their website

    2. Cannot locate driver elsewhere

    Unsuccessful Mitigations Steps Attempt:

    A. Format & partition SSD via Windows Disk Management, then retried steps 1-5 above....same result

    B. Clone existing HHD onto SSD via "Image for Windows" by TeraByte, then verified SSD contents via Windows Explorer....similar result

Can you please offer some advice on locating a driver for a Samsung SSD 850 EVO 1TB drive? Or an alternative method?

    Thank you

  3. New install Windows 10 (issue solved)

It's good that you're not experiencing any issues. Unfortunately many folks are, a quick Google search will show the same info im offering the OP.

    Heres a couple examples:

    Here

    Here

It's basically what I mentioned above, small issues here and there ,but nothing to end your day.. for the most part.

I know it's anecdotal, but for my experience 95% of the time it's perfectly fine. The issues I've run into wouldn't be enough for me to roll back , but they would be enough (had I not installed it yet) ,to avoid it for another couple weeks which is why I'm suggesting it to the OP
