Does Microstation Defender Smartscreen intentionally corrupt downloaded EXE files?

Using Microsoft Edge, I am trying to download and install a purchased program from CMS IntelliCAD. I have downloaded and used this company's software for at least 10 years without issue until now. Microsoft Defender Smartscreen tries to stop and delete the download file received. You can over-ride this but the file received appears to be corrupted in the process. You have to over-ride Microsoft Defender to get the install program to run, then it aborts quickly with a flurry of corrupt file, checksum error and corrupt header message errors. I have discussed this issue with the CMS IntelliCAD people and they state the file being downloaded is not corrupt they checked it three times leaving their website and that Microsoft Defender is likely corrupting the file as it is received. Will disabling and shutting off Microsoft Defender and Defender Smartscreen make this problem go away? I am running Microsoft Window 10 Pro 10.0 .19042 Build 19042 on a x64-based PC.

I have spent good money for the desired software download and need to get it up and running to complete several urgent projects. It is very irksome to have a new Microsoft upgrade "safety security feature" get in the way of my work progress.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions and help that will assist me with my problem.

    Microsoft Defender Smartscreen

    Hi COLINGILBERT1,

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. I'm an Independent Advisor and consumer of Microsoft products just like you. Let me help you with your concern.

Microsoft Defender SmartScreen checks downloaded files against a list of reported malicious software sites and known unsafe programs and against list of files that are well known and downloaded by many Windows users. If the file you downloaded is on the malicious
list or is not commonly downloaded it will show a warning, advising caution. If you believe that the file is not malicious and you trust the source then you can ignore the warning by clicking "Run anyway".

Refer to the below link for the benefits of Microsoft Defender SmartScreen.
