  1. File History does not seem to save all folders

I think I found a bug in File History.

I saved all of the Music folder on my laptop to a NAS using File History, and I found two sub-folders in the Music folder that were excluded from the saved Music folder.

The names of the two sub-folders, admittedly were goofy:

'Roberto Alagna, Leontina Vaduva, Etc.; Antonio Pappano- Philharmonia Orchestra, London Voices'

    and

'Sylvia McNair, Carolyn Watkinson, Etc.; Neville Marriner- Academy & Chorus Of St. Martin In The Fields'

When I backed up the Music folder, File History did not report any errors.

When I search in the tree of File History's saved files, I expected to find the above two folders there. But they aren't there.

Here is the path to the NAS where I expected to find them:

    \\TP-SHARE\sda2\paulj\PAULS-NEW-I7-LA\Data\C\Users\paulj\Music

What's the deal? Anyone know why File History does not seem to save these sub-folders?

    :)

  2. How to remove folders from File History

    • I had the same problem, and I solved in this way:
Control Panel -> System and Security-> File History -> Turn off
Settings -> Update & Security -> Backup -> More options -> Stop using this drive
Delete the File History folder in your external drive.
      Start using File History again.
After performing these steps, I can easily add folders to "Excluded Folders" and they remain excluded. I checked in the actual files and folders saved on the external disk, and it works.
I did not modify the default settings about how often and how long backup is saved, File History is working ok now. So I guess it is important to click "Stop using this drive" in order to reset File History.
      Hope this will be helpful

  4. File History does not seem to save all folders

File History saves and shows empty folders

    Hi Jeffrey,

I recommend you to select a different File History drive and check if the issue persists.

Also I suggest you to Change how long File History keeps files.

    Refer the below steps

    1. Press Windows key + X from the Keyboard and click on Control panel.

    2. Control panel Window will be open, change the View by: Category to Large icons to Small icons.

    3. Click on File history and click on Advanced settings.

    4. Next to Save copies of files, tap or click the list, and choose a time interval.

    5. Next to Keep saved versions, tap or click the list, and choose a time interval.

    6.Click on Save changes

    Note:
File History doesn't automatically delete versions of files older than the time interval you choose unless your drive is getting full and space is needed to back up more recent versions

Also, I suggest to Reconnect the drive and Reselect your File History drive

Refer the below link and check if helps

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...f3eda7c5b2b/reconnect-your-file-history-drive

Hope the above information was helpful. If you need further assistance, we will be glad to assist you.
