    Hey Reddit,
i just have this weird bug where windows is hiding the drive names and just shows "local disk" to every volume. But actually they have names and diskpart is showing them. BTW also TotalCommander shows them)

I read and tried a lot of things already.
    1. Yes SystemUser has Full Permission on all of the drives
    2. No, there are no hidden files to delete (to force naming) (e.g. Desktop.ini, Autorun.inf, Thumbs.db, lpk.dll, libeay32.dll, ssleay32.dll) And Hidden Files/System Files show up on my system)
    3. Yes I restartet multiple times and tried to rename manually again
    4. All Volumes are physical volumes (v0,v1,v2,v3,v7 in total 5)

Does anyone have any tips on that or places to look for?

Windows doesn`t start. Authomatic repair doesn`t work.

    Thanks again!!

I`m sorry I had not noticed that the text on the picture was in spanish. It says that windows has replaced some damaged clusters in "name" file and "directory". Then, at the end "an unspecified error occurred (75736e6a726e6c2e 4f6)".

I`ll do it and I`ll be updating this thread when I have the report.

I ran SeaTools. These are the results:

Does it mean my HDD is useless?

Drive name shown in Explorer is different from volume label

I have an external USB drive with the volume label "HDD-2." But when I connect it, Explorer shows the name as "Toshiba Canvio Hard Drive."

If I attempt to rename it in Explorer (right click -> Rename), the name reverts to "Toshiba Canvio Hard Drive" as soon as I hit enter.

    What's going on?

[HELP] Win10 Explorer doesn't show Drive Names/Custom Labels but they are there

Custom Label in people app is buggy.

I am able to confirm this software-bug with OS build 10586.29.

    Step to reproduce

    • All Apps » Settings » Accounts » Your email and accounts » Add an account » iCloud (because only CardDAV support custom phone labels)
    • All Apps » People » New » Save to: iCloud » tap on Mobile phone » Custom » Miau » +… » Save
    • Call Miau
    • All Apps » Phone » History
    Expected result

The last entry should show the name.

    Actual result

The phone number is shown, without a name.

    Regression

If the label is changed to a standard one, like Mobile phone, and the entry is called again, the name is shown in the history. It even shows a (2) indicating that it matched the previous call.

    Note

Microsoft does not leverage Microsoft Answers for bug reporting. Why ever. Microsoft wants you to use the app Windows Feedback, which is included since Windows 10 (Mobile).
