Can't select 5.1 audio when outputting to Samsung TV

So i'm playing movies out of my Windows 10 laptop to a Samsung TV, then taking the audio from there to my Atmos enabled Pioneer amp with digital optical.

Problem is the laptop sees the Samsung TV and only outputs Stereo, 5.1 outputs are greyed out. I cannot force it to output 5.1. If I connect the laptop direct to the amp via HDMI then I can select 5.1 no problem, as it sees an amp. Trouble is I can't get it to play via the amp to the TV, only from PC to TV then amp.

So is there any way around this? I have noticed other similar posts with no resolutions.

    :)

  2. No Audio Output Device is Installed

    Hi,

You will need to select Windows 8 from the drop down list while installing the driver in compatibility mode.

I would suggest you to try setting the speaker as default audio output by following the steps below and check if it helps.

    1. Right click on the sound icon on the right bottom corner of the taskbar.

    2. Select "playback devices".

    3. If "speaker" is not set as the default device, highlight it and click "set as default".

    5. Save the changes.

    Let us know the result.

HDMI audio output to Sony TV

    Hi,

One possible reason why your HDMI audio output was not working due to outdated drivers. To isolate your issue, kindly answer the following questions:

    • Have you made any recent changes prior to this issue?
    • Did you get any error messages when you tried to connect your computer to your TV?
    • Have you tried updating your HDMI audio driver?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

We're looking forward to your response.

N8 HDMI TV Out Issue- No output of audio

    Hi,

When I connect Nokia N8 to my Samsung LCD TV with standard HDMI cable and Nokia HDMI connector cable (supplied with N8), I can see the display on my TV, however, there is no output of audio. The audio still comes out of the phone's loudspeaker.

    Ideas?

    Thanks.
