Windows 10: Hidden Files not Visible

Discus and support Hidden Files not Visible in Windows 10 Network and Sharing to solve the problem; After the latest update I can no longer see hidden files.     Hidden Files not Visible


    After the latest update I can no longer see hidden files.

    Updated to: V10.0.19042 Build 1942

    When I try to select "View Hidden Files" the checkbox shows a tick which then disappears.

    Going via settings and setting the "Show hidden files, folders and drives" accepts the setting, but when I view it again it is unset.

    I am running as Admin.

    Third part File Managers show hidden files correctly and work fine.

    Seems like a bug in the system.

    Also, I have tried checking into "super hidden" value in the registry and it is set at "1" so that means that they are visible I think? The files are still showing up as empty but taking up roughly 3-5 gigs a pieces for a few of them like there is still something running in the background or hiding them even further than hidden files.

    How to make the hidden files and folders visible on the back up drive.

    Hi,

    Please follow the steps provided below to see hidden files and folders:


    • Open back up drive.

    • Click on View in the menu bar.

    • Click on Show/hide in the standard tool bar.

    • Click on Hidden items.

    Hidden Files not Visible

    Searching hidden files/folders

    This is what I do:
    • In explorer, browse to C:/Username
    • Start a search there containing a folder name I know is in C:/Username/Appdata/Local
    • The folder does not appear in search

    Hidden files and folders are marked to be visible everywhere.
    It seems like recursive search doesn't descend into hidden files/folders, because when I browse to Appdata and search there, I find it.

    Any way to change this behaviorr?
