    Surface Pro "5" AVStream Camera 2500 Not Working after 18Apr21 Update


    When I shut down my Surface Pro "5" the evening of April 18, 2021; there was some type of update that ran. Interestingly I cannot find a record of an update for that day in my "View update history." I selected "update and restart." Upon updating when the Surface Pro restarted, Windows Hello could not find the AVStream Camera 2500 for facial recognition. I again restarted the SP and the camera was still not working. Shortly prior to the "update" I had been using Skype and the camera worked fine. Today 19Apr21 I restarted several times without the camera being functional. When I go to Devices and try to re-enable the camera, it will not re-enable. I checked for drivers updates and there were none available. I have not yet tried removing the camera device out of fear that Windows may never find it again.


    How do I fix this? Thank you.

    Internal Front and Rear Camera Not Working Surface Pro Gen 5 Win 10

    I have downloaded the firmware for the Surface Pro Gen 5 Win 10, I've followed the horribly basic and useless
    instructions on Camera doesn't work in Windows 10, and have uninstalled the cameras and searched for new hardware using the device manager.

    My Front and Rear cameras that are built into my Surface Pro are no longer working.

    Under Camera on the Device Manager is only "Intel(R) AVStream Camera 2500" - there are no hidden devices. Under Human Interface Devices there is no camera listed.

    Is there anything you would recommend? I also downloaded the Surface analyzation tool which was useless as well and seemed not to care if I had a computer.

    Any advice on how to get the built-in Front and Rear Microsoft Surface cameras working? There is no "roll back driver" allowed on the Microsoft Front or Rear Camera either...
