  1. W10 DESKTOP PC stuck in automatic repair can't get in winRE

Hi, i have a problem with my desktop pc, yesterday it was working normally, in 5 min that i was out of my room, when i got back the pc was reboting continuously, it says "Preparing automatic repair" at startup while the balls are spinning under my MSI logo, the pc reboot.

    The fix i tried:
I turned it off by pressing power button 3 times for 10 seconds at once as some page suggest, to get in troubleshooting/cmd but nothing happens.

I tried to press ALT + F10 to start winRE but nothing happens.

I tried to unplug my ssd and plug it but nothing happens.
I tried to unplug my ssd and plug an hard disk that i have, but nothing happens still "automatic repair" and reboot.

I tried to do a clean reset with flash usb, but when the mobo logo appears with the spinning balls the pc reboot.

I tried to start it up with ssd unplugged and flash usb plug in but i got just a black screen.

I tried to remove 1 of 2 bank of ram but same "automatic repair" and reboot.

I tried to clean and swap the ram, i put the first in the second slot and the second in the first slot, but nothing happens, reboot again.

I don't need my file, i got backup on flash drive, i just want my pc back to work, there is any option to reset from bios?

So now, i can't use winRE, and i can't reset my pc with a flash usb, i can just use my bios, so what should i do?

    I appreciate your help!

    Thanks!

    :)

Can’t reset or turn back stuck in automatic repair, and after attempts now there is no system administrator on pc.

    Hi Joseph,

It is possible that there is an issue with the system files of Windows 10. If you're unable to recover your computer using the different options in the Advanced page of Windows Recovery (WinRe) environment, we suggest resetting your computer and choose either
to keep your files or remove everything. Resetting your computer will revert the system files of Windows 10 to default and it will address the "stuck in automatic repair" issue. Since you can access the Windows Recovery (WinRe) environment, you can perform
a reset by performing these steps:

    • In WinRe, choose Troubleshoot.
    • Select Reset this PC.
    • Choose Keep my files. Please take note that the programs that you've installed will be removed. You need to re-install the programs again after the reset process.
    • Wait for the reset process to finish.
    • After resetting your computer, kindly observe if you will be able to log-in to the computer.

    Let us know the outcome.

  3. Stuck in a loop of Automatic repair then black screen then automatic repair could not repair the PC

    Hi Paul,

If Automatic Repair couldn't repair your PC, you can use
    Command Prompt
from the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRe) to resolve unbootable operating system issues. Please be guided by the steps below:

    • Use the power button to restart your computer three times. This will start the Windows Recovery Environment.
    • In the Windows Recovery Environment, on the Choose an option screen, click
      Troubleshoot.
    • Click Advanced options and then click Command Prompt.
    • Type the following commands and press Enter after each line:
      • bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd
      • bootrec.exe /fixmbr
      • bootrec.exe /fixboot
    • Restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.

Let us know how it turns out.

  4. W10 DESKTOP PC stuck in automatic repair can't get in winRE

    Now that W10 is out, are you a W7 / W8 refusenik?

No, it isn't the same partition as in Windows 7. Under Windows 10, my test machine still has a 100MB System Reserved partition, in addition to the 449MB unlabeled partition. System Reserved holds the boot and repair utilities. The bigger, unlabeled partition is WinRE (Windows Recovery Environment):

What's new with WinRE for Windows 10?

By default, if you install Windows using media created from Windows Imaging and Configuration Designer (ICD), you'll get a dedicated WinRE tools partition on both UEFI and BIOS-based devices, located immediately after the Windows partition. This allows Windows to replace and resize the partition as needed.

    WinRE includes these tools:
    • Automatic repair and other troubleshooting tools.
    • Push-button reset (Windows 10 for desktop editions, Windows 8.1, and Windows 8 only). This tool enables your users to repair their own PCs quickly while preserving their data and important customizations, without having to back up data in advance.
