Windows 10: ATTEMPTED_EXECUTE_OF_NOEXECUTE_MEMORY What failed: lmfilter.sys

Ive never had bsod up until a few days ago after i install a folder lock application that required a restart. After restarting i get this bsod stop code at startup:

ATTEMPTED_EXECUTE_OF_NOEXECUTE_MEMORY

And it says that lmfilter.sys failed.


I can upload my dump files if need be.

ATTEMPTED_EXECUTE_OF_NOEXECUTE_MEMORY blue screen errors can be caused by a variety of hardware, firmware, driver, or software issues.

For us to isolate the issue and provide an appropriate resolution, we'll be needing additional information:

• Have you tried browsing through video files saved on your hard disk?
• Do you have a different SD card with video files to check if the same issue will occur?
• Can you send us a screenshot showing the error message?

I have recently upgrade a laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and have now got the BSOD stating the following message

ATTEMPTED_EXECUTE_OF_NOEXECUTE_MEMORY

Windows 10 fails to update


When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.
