    Dear Everyone.

Found a great long thread here, and similar in other places, about not being able to open .JPGs in Windows from Lenovo Tablets. Couldn't do it myself either, that's why I came here, then the penny dropped.

I'm betting all the people who couldn't do it were, like me, not getting proper thumbnails in the Lenovo, just the little rectangles with cartoon mountains and an orb dunno if it's supposed to be the sun or the moon! over the top of the mountains. That's because the picture's not been properly read, which is why it can't be transferred.

I took the Lenovo out of the USB socket it was connected to, waited for Windows to register that I'd done this, then plugged it back into a different socket. When the proper thumbnails came up on the Lenovo, that told me Windows had read the files properly so was then able to extract them and copy them over. Dunno WHY it couldn't read them properly till I'd done this but that worked every time! It's usually when you FIRST connect the tablet it doesn't pick up on the pictures, the FIRST time you tell it to use USB to transfer files. On mine, you have to tell Windows to transfer via USB every time you plug the tablet into the PC. After you've done that, more often than not, you have to reconnect the Lenovo to get the thumbnails coming up correctly.

Just a note, one guy said he'd gotten a few pictures over but they were HUGE, thousands of bytes. I reckon he was getting them as raw graphics data, not compressed graphics data, and that IS huge! That was a bit unlucky.

Would love to know if the 'see pics. as thumbnails properly' thing works for other people having this problem, all I know thus far is it worked for me!

    Yours respectfully

    Chris.

    :)

Hard drive test completed, but with read failure.

I’ve been backing up to an external drive. I don’t know when it will fail. Hopefully not until my replacement drive comes.
