Windows 10: Windows 10 - 1809 Upgrade failure

I am in the process of upgrading a fleet of windows 1809 laptops to 1909 but I am struggling due to blocked drivers. Currently I have fixed two of them, however, I am stuck with the cougarpointusb.inf driver as it continually blocks the upgrade due to this OEMxx.inf file. I have looked on the internet and its not clear on how to fix/bypass this issue. We have updated the laptop with the latest drivers but still no go.Any help would be appreciqted.Thanks...Nathan

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:

• Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
• Try different keyboard or mouse.
• Restart computer, repeatedly.
• Google for related issues.
• Update Bios, because why not.
• Create boot media and revert to windows 7.

The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.

 

1809 Upgrade & Adobe Flash Failures

Any Adobe updates you see listed in Control Panel as published by Adobe are exclusively for you other browsers (Chrome, Firefox, etc.). The Flash updates in Windows Update are supplied by Microsoft and are only for the use of Edge and IE.

1809 got off to a bad start in October but it is solid and stable now, so much so that MS recently declared it ready for business use.

Try restarting you PC and see if that lets your updates complete successfully.

You are missing an EFI partition too. Here's mine (1903) - note the 99Mb EFI partition:



- noting the Recovery partition is NTFS - not sure where the idea in that thread about FAT32 comes from.

Here are all the partitions - Disk Management omits the 16Mb one:




In the thread I quoted- not the most straightforward- it seems one basic step taken was to
a. Image 'C: '
b. Clean install Windows
c. Replace the new Windows partition by restoring it from the image created
d. (Note when rebooting, this may sort itself out via automated repair, or need Startup repair to be run)

msconfig boot empty "Windows 10"
you will find numerous references which may help.
