    Cannot use 1Gbps Internet

    Hi,

Did you get a new 1gbps "Plan"or hardware device..

I might be missing something, but I was not aware of the existence of a 1gbps internet download speed..

A lot of routers and Ethernet adapters are 1gbps capable, but that does not mean you have a connection capable of that..

  3. Cannot use 1Gbps Internet

    Hi Stefan Meirosu,

probably the ports of the Switch use the standard 10/100 lan ethernet and do not support 1Gbps and therefore the speed automatically adapts to 100 Mbps. But when you connect the pc directly to the router, do you disconnect the switch or keep it connected
to the router? Try disconnecting the switch completely during the test connected directly to the router.
If this still does not work, report the Windows error message or post the screenshot.

Internetspeed is 100/100Mbits instead of 1Gbps

    Cannot use 1Gbps Internet

    Hi,

I seem to be out of date with the availability of the higher internet speeds..

One thing I should point out though.. Internet speed is measured in two different ways..

    GigaBITS\MegaBITS and GigaBYTES\MegaBYTES..

You need to divide Gigabits per second by 8 to get Gigabytes per second..

Doing so would come out to 125 MegaBYTES per second... If you were getting 80% of your max download speed it would come to 100 MegaBYTES per second..

This can be quite confusing, but maybe a closer look will resolve your problem..

I recently checked on a 100 mbps connection.. I was informed it would actually amount to 12.5 megabytes per second... When you download something, the download speed is usually listed in MegaBYTES.. Not BITS..

Another for instance... I have a so called 24mbps connection... When I download a large file like a ISO or similar, my browser is listing the speed at around 2.6 MegaBYTES per second.. About 85% of max..

You almost never get the max, as there is some type of "overhead" involved in the transmission..

The point being is that your 1gbps speed may be exactly the same as a 125mBps connection.. The 100 you are seeing may not be that far off..
