Windows 10: after reset unable to have PDF and ODT files display as preview

win ver 1909............. how can I adjust my system so I can copy and paste from within the pop-up windows as prompted to supply the win ver #, and others of this type? Now back to the issue I am trying to resolve; I reset the computer and haven't had a critical error in the event log for 3 days now. Even after resetting, many SFCscannow and DISM restore heath runs were required even to make AV software operable. I want for PDF, DOC and ODT type files show as a thumbnail preview instead of icons. In IE, it will preview PDFs but not ODTs. I did have it set to work like this prior, but now, no luck. Any assistance or direction to a prior thread on-point?

Unable Search for .odt (LibreOffice Docs) file formats using File Contents.

Hello,

I just want to let you know that the search still does not work.

I have also tried the File Explore by using a keyword, ".odt: keyword."

The result shows only .odt doc files with names which include the keyword.

No .odt doc files which contain the keyword in the body.

As mentioned in the original post, I have done everything that was suggested including:

1. Run the DISM Tool.
2. Run the System File Checker utility.

I hope that someone knows how to resolve the issue.

Downloading document should not change the file format, those should come down in the same file format as they were uploaded by the creator of those documents

What web browser are you using to download those documents?

On the web page, is it reported those documents are in odt and doc, if so,right click one of those downloaded files and choose Properties, on the resulting dialog, at the top, what is reported as the Type of file, is that .pdf, .doc or .odt?

Do you have Word installed on your PC, if so, open Word, then choose File - Open and try to open one of those downloaded PDF files, does it open successfully in Word, and if not, what is the exact error you are getting?

I am on Windows 10.

When my son downloads the files his teachers send him in Word and Open Office files (.odt and .doc), they are automatically downloaded as pdf files, which means he cannot write on them, and we cannot transform them into word files.

I have just disinstalled Adobe pdf, but the system still downloads them as pdfs

Can you please tell me what I could to do to ensure they are downloaded in the form they are sent?
