Windows and MS Account: Need help after security info change

Hello! I just had to reset my browser, lost passwords, etc. When trying to reset my MS account, I ran into problems with the verification codes they sent me and had to wait several days to finally try again. Every time I tried to reset the password I was told to try again tomorrow. My MS account now has new security settings and I can't access certain features until Mid-july, which is fineHowever, I have to sign on Windows 10 desktop and after all the frustration of the last few days, I'm unsure how to proceed and cannot get any help online. And I was only able to finally post a question here b

    :)

  2. How to change password for login without verifying security info?.

    Hi Samuwella,

Sorry for the loss, not to worry we will try our best to assist you with the issue you are facing with Windows 10 account security.

Lets follow the below steps to fix the issue with Windows 10.

    1. We Suggest you to refer to the below article on "Get back into your Microsoft account if it's been compromised".
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/10494/microsoft-account-get-back-compromised-account

    2. Also refer to the below article on "How do I replace my security info"?
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/10634/microsoft-account-replace-all-security-info

    3. Two-step verification helps protect you by making it more difficult for someone else to sign in to your Microsoft account. It uses two different forms of identity: your password, and a contact method (also known as security
info). Even if someone else finds your password, they'll be stopped if they don't have access to your security info.

Refer the steps in the link :

How to use two-step verification with your Microsoft account

Keep us informed with the above information for better assistance.

    Changing Security Info

    Hello CooldGaming,

I'm Jin, a fellow Windows 10 user and an independent advisor.

Can you still manage to login to your Microsoft Account at:
    https://account.microsoft.com/
    ?

If yes, try updating your phone number:

    1. Login to Sign in to your Microsoft account

    2. Click on Update my info under Security contact info.

    3. Click Add security info.

    4. Add your phone number.

    5. Remove the old number that is no longer in use.

If you are unable to login to your account, follow the steps on this article to recover your account:

Help with the Microsoft account recovery form

    Kind regards.

  4. Windows and MS Account: Need help after security info change

    Using a MS Account Questions

    Hi:

I'm not sure anyone can answer that definitively, as we do not work for MS.
And it's not clear from your question if you are referring to data telemetry/sharing with MS or to overall computer security from malware, etc.

Either way, much computer security hinges on the end-user as the first and last line of defense, in terms of safe computing practices.

The tutorial I provided in my previous reply lists some of the features -- you can read that list and decide for yourself if they are "advantages" or not, in terms of personal data sharing/vulnerability.

These MS articles may also help:

    and
Microsoft account - security info and security codes

I use only a local account on my Win10. So we'll need to wait for others who use a MS account to weigh in with further advice.

    Cheers,
    MM
