    i have 4gb ram but only 2.97 useable what is happening?


    i have a 4gb ram but at first when i first time look at my pc specs it says 4gb ram3.46 useable and then when my pc is now 2 years old+ my pc then becomed 2.97 useable now like whats happening this problem is getting worse when i check task manager it said only 300+ mb are left cause the 2.97 ram is being used what pls help me how to fix this or tell me whats happening to recover back to 4gb ram :*

    Windows shows 8GB RAM installed but 4GB RAM is usable

    Hi There,

    I've just upgraded my pc from 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM. Windows seems to have detected this upgrade but why does it show as only 4GB RAM available. The following is what I have tried so far with no luck:

    • I have tried the msconfig method on ensuring maximum memory is not checked.
    • physically removed the new RAM and reinstalled it
    Any thoughts/suggestions on how i can resolve this matter?

    Can I upgrade to 8GB (4gb * 2) Ram?

    In addition to Post #2, I'd suggest looking at Gigabyte's recommended memory list for the board. Unfortunately, they have only tested a few 4GB modules. Most of the correct type may work, especially if you're not looking to go above 1333 Hz.

    so I have 40gb of ram and only 15.9 is said to be useable.
