  1. DHCP working, Network does not

My windows 10 system stopped accessing the network a couple of days ago. Now, it will not communicate externally after initial DHCP set-up. ping returns general failure. Have reset/deleted network drivers/settings. I even updated to the latest Win10 update. No change. I can change the DHCP settings on the router and these are reflected so I know it is getting to the router but can never ping it. Ideas? I don't want to reload Windows but that may be only choice. I did see that the reverse DNS was pointing to the wrong IP and since I couldn't figure out where that was coming from or how to chang

  2. Networking Issue Vista/XP

Sounds like a local (LAN) IP address conflict somewhere. Have you turned on DHCP on your router? Are all your computers DHCP clients (automatic IP address)?
    • When it's working check the IP address of each device.
    • When it's NOT working check the IP address of each device.
    • Are there any other devices on your network? Does your router have a network address database? Can you see ALL devices that are attached to the router? If so, list them and their IP addresses.

The DHCP Server service terminated without a valid clue

    Hi Chhetri Suman,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol): Every device on TCP/IP needs unique IP address to access the network. DHCP controls the allotment of IP addresses. However, if
you can access internet, DHCP should work fine. But if there is some issue with the internet, you can follow these steps and resolve the DHCP error.

I suggest you to follow the troubleshooting steps mentioned below:

    1. Press Windows and
R key together on your Keyboard.
    2. Type Control and hit enter.
    3. Click on Network and internet > click on Change adapter settings
      on the left pane.

    4. Right click on the Ethernet connection you are using and select properties.

    5. Select Internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IPV4) and click on properties.

    6. Check the following radio boxes:

    • Obtain an IP address automatically
    • Obtain DNS server address automatically

    7. Now windows 10 will retrieve the IP address automatically.

    Hope it helps.

    DHCP working, Network does not

Did our Epson printer get hacked?

Another question, is this on a home network or a work network? The steps @eidairaman1 listed are always a good first step. If this is on a work network you manage, I'd be much more concerned than the home one. It is possible someone is screwing with you, but malware could also be the culprit.
