Windows 10 will not turn on/restart with card reader plugged.

Hey guys, this is whats happening to meI own a Kingstom FCR-HS4 card reader, it works just fine in my laptop. It works too in my main PC, it reades the card normally. The problem is when I need to turn off the PC and turn on or just a restart, Windows will not start. The BSOD appears and reboot my pc, and it keeps cycling linke this.To solve i have to unplug the device card reader so windows can start and then plug the card reader again to use it.The drivers are up to date, windows is up to date. Or at least is what windows says.

    :)

  3. insignia card reader does not work on windows 10

    Hi Larry,

Getting the error Unknown USB Device could be caused by a possible hardware issue, an outdated driver, or could have something to do with the device's power supply. To isolate this problem, try plugging or connecting your card reader to a different
USB port on your computer and see if the same error appears.

If you get the same error, then please try the following methods to further isolate the case:

    • Unplug/replug the power supply
    • If your card reader uses a power supply, remove the card reader its power supply from the computer.
    • Restart your computer and reconnect the card reader to the USB port.
    • Plug back in its power supply.

    • Uninstall the USB driver in Device Manager
    • Right-click the Windows key and select Device Manager.
    • Expand the Universal Serial Bus Controllers category, locate the USB device which is not recognized.
    • Right-click the Unknown USB device and click Uninstall.
    • Once done, restart your computer to let Windows automatically reinstall the drivers.

    • Update the USB driver
    • Get the exact model number of your card reader and verify Which Windows operating system am I running.
    • Visit the card reader manufacturer's website and download the updated driver for Windows 10.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

    Regards.
