  1. Windows update causing my CPU to run hot.

Good day,So after I did the last update on the 15th of Oct, my PC will be idling and for some reason the CPU usage jumps up to 30% and temp sits at 60degrees.Now the strange thing is, as soon as I open task manager the CPU usage drops down to 3% and the temp goes back to normal at around 38 degrees. In task manager I cant see what is using or causing the 30% usage. When I close task manager it happens again after about 10 to 15 min. and it sits on that 30% in idle without change. I'm using AIDA64 to monitor the usage and temps.I have to keep task manager open for the pc not to over heat wen I'm

    :)

  2. CPU running hot during windows update

    Hi,

windows updates are taking a very long time lately and the CPU is running hot 50 - 60 degrees. The internal (and sometimes external) fan really is trying to cool it down but not a chance. The notebook is new and I am not doing anything else. Even downloading
and installing is taking hours. At the moment version 1703 is installed but I am downloading the new updates right now.

    I have Windows 10, i5-7200U CPU, 8GB RAM and 64-bit operating system.

Any idea how I can fix that problem?

    Cheers

CPU temp -- is this running too hot ?

    Hi there

running a fairly heavy but not unduly load the CPU seems to be running at about 75 deg C peak -- Avg about 61 deg C.
Is this likely to cause trouble over prolonged periods.

I know that these devices can run extremely hot but I don't want to break it if adding more cooling can sort it out.

Any hardware gurus out there --is this OK or should I try and take remedial action.
