Windows 10: New WhatsApp causing blue screen errors

I updated my WhatsApp for Windows 10 about 1 week ago and my laptop started displaying blue screen errors, supposedly related to memory failures.The failure was severe, and the PC didn't work anymore. Finally, I disconnected the power and took out the battery, and re-started it. I ran diagnostics to fix hardware problems F5. I had to remove WhatsApp and the laptop has been working fine since then. Has anybody reported similar problems, so WhatsApp programmers come out with a fix, or was WhatsApp infected with a new virus not detected by McAfee and Malwarebytes?
