Software RAID drive shows as a dynamic drive in disk management but the wrong files are...

On a Windows 11 PC I have 5 folders stored in a Windows software dynamic mirror RAID drive, Documents, Downloads, Drivers, Favourites and Music. I can access these folders without error in file explorer. However, when using Win7 backup and browse to restore files I find that the backup window shows 5 folders, Drivers, Drivers 2, Drivers 3, Favourites and Music. None of these folders contain the correct files and many items are missing. The backup completes without showing any error. However, I notice that when I expand my selection of drives to backup, the backup window also list the wro

Dynamic Disk (software RAID) not accessible after windows 10 upgrade

I have two 2TB drives set up as a single volume in Windows. In Disk Management these physical drives are listed as Dynamic. I set them up in Windows 7, and they continued to function fine when upgrading to Windows 8.1. I boot off of a separate drive (SSD). I upgraded to Windows 10 and now I am unable to access the drive.

In Windows Explorer this drive shows up just as "Local Disk (DSoftware RAID drive shows as a dynamic drive in disk management but the wrong files are... :)" -- this drive letter is correct, but that is not the name I had assigned it. Attempting to open this drive brings up a modal message box titled "Location is not available" with the text "D:\ is not accessible. Incorrect function." and the only option is "OK".

In the Disk Management utility, I see D: listed as the correct size (3726GB) and listed as 100% free (should be more like 70% free). Layout listed a "Striped", Type "Dynamic", File System "RAW", Status "Healthy". It doesn't have a name listed here, either.

Below that panel, both physical drives are listed, and both are listed as Dynamic, Online, Healthy, with the correct individual capacities. They are listed here as RAW as well. The "Reactivate Volume" option is greyed out.

Selecting the "Rescan Disks" option from the Actions menu has no effect.

In the "Tools" tab of the Properties window for the drive, the error checking tool gives the error "The disk check could not be performed because Windows can't access the disk."

The volume does not show up in the "Optimize" window.

Under the Hardware tab of the Properties window, both physical drives are listed and say "This device is working properly."

Both drives are Hitachi drives, listed with the model "HDS5C3020ALA632".

I'm not sure what further steps I can take to find more relevant information or how I can get Windows to recognize/mount the volume. I don't have any irreplaceable data on that drive, but I do have a fair amount of media it will be inconvenient to rip back to the computer as well as my Steam library I'd rather not have to re-download.

If there's not a way to get Windows 10 to recognize and mount the volumes, I would be happy with another solution that would let me boot up and read the data so I could move it to my external drive and reformat the volume. I've got a USB stick with a bootable Xubuntu install sitting around somewhere, but I'm not sure if I would be able to see something in a pair of drives set up as software RAID through Windows.

  3. Op[tions for a failed dynamic disk

One of my raid 1 drives failed and I removed it. the remining drive is functioning well (have 3 TB of data used; OS is on a separated drive; all data are backed up in multiple splaces).

    1. Is there any disadvantage to leaving the dynamic disk as is even though there is no corresponding mirrored drive?
    2. Can i replace my failed raid drive and establish it as a dynamic drive to work with the other dynamic one without having to remove the partitions on the still functional dynamic drive and start again?
    3. if i have to "start from scratch" would it be more effective to set up Windows 10 storage drives instead of RAID1?

Software RAID drive shows as a dynamic drive in disk management but the wrong files are...

Task Manager Performance tab shows drive C: usage at 89% always.

I have a Windows 10 Pro system with all updates installed. The Task Manager Performance tab shows C: usage at 89% all of the time with only slight variations in the percentage. The Processes tab shows disk usage at about 40%. The only process using the disk
    is System.

Disk defragmentation is disabled. File indexing is disabled. There are only five apps listed on the Startup tab including OneDrive and Windows Security Notifications. I have disabled the other three with no change in C: usage.

I have other PCs running the same version of Windows that do not have this problem. The only thing that is unique about the system with the problem is that C: is a software RAID 1 array consisting of two identical 4TB drives configured as RAID 1 in Disk
Manager. Is it normal for Task Manager to show continuous disk access for a Windows RAID 1 array? Any other suggestions? Thanks.
