    Trying to do a simple add printer and then share it, leading to many more issues


    After a reset, saving files, the computer has recognized my venerable Brother HL5250DN and installed it, but without a driver! So, following the instructions here: how to download print drivers in windows 10 site:microsoft.com - Bing I proceed. I am prompted to log in with my credentials for a printer driver?, then the fun starts. I put in my email address and then confirm my login using Microsoft Authenticator and end up with this screenWhat is going on here? What should I be looking at? All this has come about because I wanted to share the printer with a Windows 11 device on my network. Tr

    • What is the make and model of the printer?


    To share the printer on the network, I would suggest you to refer the article on

    Can't share printer—getting error message

    Step 1: Go to store.
    Step 2: Buy a less shitty printer.
    Step 3: Pick up some beer while you are there.
    Step 4: Enjoy both your new printer and your beer.

    In all seriousness, I have had more issues with Lexmark printers and their shitty drivers then any other manufacturer, HP is a close second though.

    However, if you don't want to get a new printer*Laugh :laugh:, and I can understand that, when my Lexmark was giving me the same troubles in Win7(and Vista) I had to make sure the Windows firewall was ON and the firewall service was enabled and running. After I shared it I could re-disable the firewall and firewall services.

    Yeah, I have windows firewall disabled, and I don't use any other firewall... mostly to prevent stupid issues like this.

    None taken... and yeah, I do.
