Windows 10 OS causes HDD 100% usafe on laptop HDD OS drives specifically.

Ever since the update from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, all laptops Sony, Lenovo, Dell etc. with hard disk drives specifically and only when the drive is the OS drive would get stuck at 100% usage periodically making the laptop unusable. This occurs with a brand new installation of Windows 10, with all updates removed, with factory resets, normal resets, whatever the setting. The only solution I've found personally was to swap the HDD with an SSD. But this is an expensive solution if I were to swap all the company laptops with SSDs.Please go to the link to upvote the issue on Feedback Hub: h

100% HDD slowing laptop to a crawl

Well I don't know what happened to my last post yesterday .

Missing post basically said the Laptop has been reset now & now it's broken. Running at 100% HDD.

After a day of crawling at 95-100% HDD I've managed to download some up dates & run some HP tests.

The Seagate ST2000LM007 2TB HDD passed & isn't the problem. This drive has data transfer rates for up to 180MB/s.

According to task manager "100%" HDD is occurring with as little as 0.1MB/s.

This is definitely a Windows 10 OS fault.

    What is the fix?

    Scott

Installing OS on SSD that's already on a HDD

    Hi there,

I heard that copying/moving OS from drive to drive isn't good. I just bought a SSD for my Freshly build PC which has Windows 10 Home installed on HDD, Now I'm willing to Install Windows on SSD for great performance.

    I have some questions:

    1) How do I install OS on SSD whiles it's still active on HDD?

    2) How to install it? (I have Windows 10 USB drive)

    3) How to enable SSD in UEFI BIOS?

    4) Will I lose my data on partitions of HDD?

    5) Will 120 GB space of my SSD cause any problem while updating Windows?

    6) After install, Would I need to contact MSFT for that 'loong' code to activate Windows? (I had to contact for that code when I reinstalled Windows on my PC from My Laptop!)

    And a off-topic question:

How to rename (Re letter) a Partition? I've Optical drive names 'D' and it's between my 'C' and 'E' drive partition.
