  1. Microphone keeps going silent randomly

I'm not really sure where else to ask so here we go. The problem is that my microphone will randomly go silent, not muted or disabled, just silent and no audio is received. I'm running the latest version of Windows 11, although this problem has happened before changing to windows 11. I am using the Audio-Technica AT2020 with an M-Audio M-Track Duo for phantom power and volume control. I'm using an XLR cable from the microphone to the M-track and then from there, it's connected via USB to my PC. I've had this problem for months now and had gotten help previously on a Microsoft forum, they

    Volume on Microphone randomly spikes

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft community forum.

This issue can occur if the device drivers are not up-to date or an application is taking control over Microphone. Please help us with the following information, so that we have a better understanding of the issue:

    1. Are you using built-in Microphone or an external microphone?

    2. If you are using an external microphone, what is the make and model of the microphone?

Meanwhile, here are few things that you can try:

Method 1: I would request you to

    update the driver
and uncheck the option “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device”. Here are the steps to uncheck the option:

    1. Right click on the Sound Icon at the bottom of the screen.
    2. Then click on Sounds and double click on
      Microphone.
    3. Go to Advanced tab and uncheck the option:
Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device
      .
    4. Click on Apply and then on
      OK
      .

Method 2: If the above does not help, then you can follow the steps mentioned in the article:

Troubleshoot Surface sound and audio accessories
    (you can skip step 6).

    Regards,

  3. Microphone keeps going really quiet

I've had a problem for a few months now, where my microphone 'randomly' becomes really quiet for a reason i don't know. I first noticed the problem in discord, but its also been occurring with other applications so its not a Discord problem. it goes quiet
for a random amount of time, before reverting back 2 normal, only for a few seconds, which makes it almost impossible to talk to people with.

I've tried a few things. Such as:

    • Updating audio drivers from device manager.
    • Turned off all of the 'Exclusive Mode' options
    • boosting my microphone to try and counteract going quiet (didn't help)
    • buying a brand new headset. (The ARCTIS 3 - Arctis 3 Gaming Headset)
if anyone can help, it would be very appreciated as its been bugging me for a while now. Thanks

    (also, i'm using windows 10)
