Heya. So I'm trying to update from Windows 10 to Windows 11, I downloaded the official installer from the Window website however I keep getting the "Can't create files. Please check if you have permissions to write to the installation folder" error.A while ago I did some system tweaks so that my computer wouldn't update anymore - this was because getting random updates whenever Windows seemed like it would be a good fit really was disrupting my work. This is the tool I used: https://christitus.com/debloat-windows-10-2020/I tried running the tool again to disable the tweaks I did

    :)

    File permissions to delete file

You can try the steps below

    1. Right click the file to that you don’t have permission to access. Vlick Properties.
    2. Go to Security tab and select Edit.
    3. Select Add button
    4. Type Everyone then select Check Names. Click OK to save changes.
    5. you will be back in the previous window, under Group or users names, choose Everyone then check mark Full control.
you can refer more: Fix: You dont currently have permission to access this folder in Windows 10

  3. Reset Windows 10 file permissions to default

    Hi,

Welcome to Microsoft Community and thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

    • Are you receiving any error message while accessing any files?
I suggest you to follow the below methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1: Startup troubleshooter.

    • Open the Task manager. Here’s a tip: Press CTRL+Shift+ESC.
    • Click File > Run New Task
    • Make sure you have a check mark beside “Create this task with administrative privileges”
    • Type Powershell
    • Type the following in the Powershell prompt:
    $manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest

    6. Close the Powershell window

    7. Reboot

Method 2: If you are facing issues accessing files, then I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

This may be caused by incorrect permissions on the files.

You can fix this using these steps:

    • Open the properties of the main user profile folder where the files are located (such as Documents, Pictures, etc).
    • Go to the Security tab and click Advanced.
    • Check the box at the bottom of this window. It is labeled "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object" and then click Ok
Hope this information was helpful and do let us know if you need further assistance. We will be glad to assist.

Can't update to windows 11.. "Can't create files. Please check if you have permissions to...

Windows doesn`t start. Authomatic repair doesn`t work.

    Thanks again!!

I`m sorry I had not noticed that the text on the picture was in spanish. It says that windows has replaced some damaged clusters in "name" file and "directory". Then, at the end "an unspecified error occurred (75736e6a726e6c2e 4f6)".

I`ll do it and I`ll be updating this thread when I have the report.

I ran SeaTools. These are the results:

Does it mean my HDD is useless?
