Now I have 400GB of free space. I tried to make a new simple volume to recreate my Data D but it is not working. It says that there is not enough space to complete this operation. How can I recreate my local drive D again?

    :)

Windows 10 cannot extend C partition

    Hi YehiaElsawy

Windows can only extend a partition into a contiguous partition directly to the right of that partition

Because your D drive is between your C drive and that unallocated space, Windows will refuse to extend C

    A couple of options:

    1

Copy whatever data is on D to an external drive, delete the D drive, extend C and then re-create the D drive to the right of the extended C drive

    2

Use a 3rd party utility like the Free version of AOMEI Partition Assistant to merge C and the unallocated space. The Free version of AOMEI is fully featured, fast and reliable . . .

    How to extend C partition

    Hi Kevin,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

I would suggest you try the following steps and see if it helps.

    1. Right-click on the partition (in your case, Data) and select
    Delete Volume.

    2. When the prompt appears click Yes.

    3. The partition will now display as Unallocated.

    4. Now, right-click on C: Drive and select Extend Volume.

    5. Click on Next. If you wish to extend all the unallocated partition to C: drive, then click
Next otherwise next to select the amount of space in MB
text box type in the space (in MB) to merge with C: drive.

    6. Click on Finish.

Note: In disk management, D: drive must be next to the C: drive on the right-side only then you can extend C: drive.

Hope this helps. Please respond if you have further related queries.

    Regards,
