Windows 10: Microsoft 3050 wireless keyboard, 2 issues.

Hi,My previous wireless Bluetooth keyboard worked in BIOS / before windows booted, to get to BIOS. Have I configured something incorrectly or does the 3050 keyboard not work before windows boots? It worked perfectly on my previous MS Bluetooth mouse. it was a "Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 7000"My other issue is with the mouse wheels horizontal click. The mouse definitely physically supports a left or right sideways click, but it does nothing and is not recognised/configurable within the config center. If I click/push it left or right it does nothing; except make a confirming click

Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 3050 Hotkeys

I have a Microsoft wireless keyboard 3050. I have programmed the my favorite buttons (1-5) to open various files or folders. This only works intermittently sometimes switching to 'open items on task bar' function even though my settings in keyboard and mouse
center are set to 'open program, webpage or file'

Any suggestions?

Thank you for your suggestions dated 12 August and subsequent followup.

The problem still persists and I hope the following information will help you to give me more advice.

• What are the basic functions that are not working?

Mail button, home, and headphone buttons work. The rest do not. Also, I cannot open the file which shows the functions of the various keys.

• Any changes to the device prior to the issue?

There was an update but I did not make a note of it, sorry.

• Which Windows version?

Windows Enterprise. Version 1607.

Note. The device will not download Version 1703 but tries daily.



I have performed the clean boot operation several times. The only result is that I can now use the three buttons listed above. No other changes.

Initially, when I first purchased the keyboard, I inserted batteries, plugged in the USB stick and everything worked OK. I have downloaded the software for the 3050 keyboard from the web and tried to use that – no improvement.



I must advise you that I am using an unactivated version of Windows10. After the initial download in late 2016 I experienced lots of problems. (See my past posts on these). In an effort to clear these I had a re-installation of W10 done, which has
turned out to be unactivated. The computer and 3050 keyboard then worked perfectly for some weeks until the keyboard stopped working. It works fine as a standard keyboard. The PC also works fine with an old wired keyboard.



One further point. I also have a laptop and have connected the 3050 keyboard to it. It works 100% on the laptop!!!

I hope you can come up with some ideas.

To better assist you with your concern, I'd like to know the following:

• Confirm which build is currently installed on your device. To check, follow the steps below:

1. Press Windows key + R, then type in winver.
2. Click OK.

• What is the make and model of your device?
• Have you tried using another keyboard?

In case that your computer is running on OS Build 16299.248,
some USB devices and on-board devices, such as a built-in laptop camera, keyboard or mouse, may stop working for some users.

Furthermore, I'd recommend performing the steps in this article to troubleshoot
the said issue.

In addition, you can check this article to troubleshoot response failures in wireless
keyboard or mouse.

If the issue still persists, there's a possibility that the issue is caused by a hardware failure since you've mentioned that you've tried connecting the mouse and keyboard on a Windows 7 platform and still experienced the same issue. In this case, it would
be best to ask assistance from the store where you've purchased the device to check for warranty coverage.
