Windows 10: File sharing over network not working again

Hello,I have been having this problem since getting a new desktop at the beginning of the year and installing Windows 11; I don't know what to do anymore. We are on a network with two computers and need to file share. Whenever I double click and try to see the laptops' files, I get an error message that says "\\LAPTOP is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact your network administrator." We haven't changed any information on the network, all the credentials are the same and nothing has been added/removed from the laptop. We are our own administrator

Computers Vanished From File Explorer But Network Still Works

I agree with @Try3. I have tried every suggested method to fix Windows networking suggested on these forums. All at best only worked for a short time. The only things that helped was:

1. Batch file I suggested in an earlier post
2. Creating shortcuts to computers on my home network

Note these two things are not fixes but workaround. However, at least they help and have never failed.

I have shortcuts set up for eight computers on my home network. I have created a folder on my desktop called My Network to hold the shortcuts. They have a mix of the following operating systems:

• Windows 10 - 4
• Windows 7 - 3
• Windows XP - 1

In addition of what you have done. Also check the security tab and make sure there's a user "Everyone" with full permission.





NOTE: If you are not using the Homegroup then it's better to turn it off:

• Control Panel->Homegroup then select "Leave the Home group"

• Open Services and disable "Homegroup Listener" and "Homegroup Provider"

 

Block File sharing in Wifi network, Windows 10

As per the description, I understand that you want to block file sharing on your Wi-Fi network. I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Right click on Start and select Control Panel.
• Change the view type to Large Icons.
• Click on Network and Sharing center.
• In the left navigation pane, click on Advanced sharing center.
• In the right pane, under Files and printer sharing, select the option:
  Turn off file and printer sharing.
• Restart the system and check for status.
