  1. How do I completely remove all content filters on my own Microsoft family account?

As of the 14th of August, I am 18yrs old. Consistently, for the past 6 years, me and my parents have run into trouble with Microsoft's Family Features, Specifically its content restrictions. So imagine my frustration on my 18th when I simply cannot remove these content restrictions.I have spent a good hour scouring the 4 corners of the Microsoft community and am unable to find a solution to my problem. Simply put, my parents lost their account, and I cannot remove the features that they placed on my account despite having turned 18. it even says that my account is an adult and cannot be edite

    :)

  2. Family Safety web content filters can be bypassed

Family Safety web content filters seem to care only about the web page URL. If the page is allowed, but it gets content from supposedly blocked web sites, there is actually no filtering. Steps to reproduce:

    1. Add youtube.com and googlevideo.com to Blocked sites
    2. Navigate to Weltmeister im Verstecken
    3. Watch YouTube videos there

Removed from family, but still have content restrictions

    Hi,

I've been removed from a family, but still seem to have content restrictions on Xbox. There are no filters applied on the Xbox - all are set to off. The xbox blocks me from playing games or accessing apps without parental permissions, even though the account
has been removed from a family.

Any suggestions on how to get round this?

    Thanks.

How do I completely remove all content filters on my own Microsoft family account?

    Microsoft Family Screen Time

    Hi Laurel,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community forum.

This could happen when the child account fails to sync with the server. I suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works:

    • Open
      File Explorer
and navigate to the following location:
    • C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Parental Controls

      Note:
The above mentioned directory is hidden, copy and paste the same location on the search bar in the File Explorer to access it.
    • Delete the contents in the
      \\settings
directory of the Parental Controls folder.
    • Reboot the machine to see if the issue persists.

If the issue persists, you may want to remove the child account from Microsoft family and add it again.

    • To know how to remove an account from Microsoft Family, refer:

Remove members from your family group
    • To know how to add an account to Microsoft Family, refer:

Add members to your family group
