Windows 10: install win10 iso on new SSD due to HDD failure

HI.My daughters Laptop is approx. 10 year old that was pre-installed with Win7, over the years the upgrade path has left the laptop with Windows 10.The HDD is now starting to fail with large numbers of bad sectors. The laptop is close to unusable, but i have managed to save most of her docs and pics. I purchased a new SSD with the intention of cloning the HDD across to the SSD, but this was not possible due to the condition of the HDD. To make matters worse my daughter has not made a disk image whilst having the laptop.Can i download the win10 iso from microsoft and do a clean install or is t

Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

When in win10:

• Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....

Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
- Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

 

Fresh install of Win10 to a new SSD after I already Upgraded to Win10 on an iffy HDD.

I can't seem to get an answer on this.

I did a free upgrade to Win10 Home from Win 7 Home Premium.

I used the Windows Media creator (USB) to install after it failed twice by normal upgrade.

I installed Win10 on a HDD that may be a little iffy, possibly why it took 3 tries.

I would like to do a fresh install of Win10 on a 500 GBs SSD, due to the shaky nature of the HDD.

I have the data backed up on a WD backup drive.

Due to the iffy condition of the old HDD, I don't think a recovery or clone options are an option.

I want to do a fresh install and re-install my programs on to the new SSD.

How do I go about this?

Running a Dell XPS Studio 7100, with Win7 pre-installed. Have a very old ( 2010 or 11) recovery backup on DVDs, but since Win10 is installed and working, I/d rather not go that way. Attempts to recreate Win7 recovery failed. (HDD problem???)

Any time I tax the HDD (Defrag, Spinrite, Dell Disk check) the machine locks up.

Tried to clone HD to SSD same thing, it locked up.

 

Install of Win 10 from old HDD to new SSD

My PC has a WD 1 T HDD as the primary drive with Win 10 installed. There is also an 2nd older WD HDD for data storage purposes if ever needed - unlikely.

I recently bought a new 500 GB SSD drive. I would like to install my WIN 10 on the new SSD using it as the primary drive.

To install on the new SSD, would I unplug the WD 1 T HDD and install the new SSD drive on the MB and then install Win 10 on the SSD.

After the above, I assume I then reconnect The WD 1 T HDD. With the OS on the New SSD, will the apps and programs that are on the WD HDD operate or will I have to reinstall them on the new SSD As well how do I delete Win 10 from the HDD - do I simply delete the files or delete the partitions or just don’t bother. The WD HDD a was not even close to being full and was bought for faster access.

Any suggestions on how to get the new SSD to work properly and windows off the old WD HDD so it does not interfere with the new SSD would be appreciated.
