Windows 10: Data on external drives SD cards, Pen drives can't be read

System:AMD Ryzen 3 2200U 12 GB RAMWindows 10 21H2I don't know what happened, but since the last few days, whenever I connect my SD card, USB drive to my laptop, it says that device needs to be formatted before using. This problem wasn't there earlier for both the SD card and USB drive. Also by the way I connect my SD card directly to the SD card reader built-in to the laptop. How do I fix this?

Moving or installing Apps to External Device(Pen driveor SD card) in Windows10

Hi,

I am using Windows10. How can I install the apps or games from windows Store directly to External Device(Pen drive or External Hard disk). and also tell me that how to move the installed app to External Device(Pen drive or External Hard
disk). I tried to move the apps from the WindowsApps Folder to pen drive(by creating the same folder name) but it shows error(apps can only run with App Container) or something like that. Please make me clear about that.

This is Question I asked and I had a reply from the Microsoft Community like this.....


First the SD card needs to be formatted in NTFS format.Then press Windows keys +R >Type regedit

Go to this location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Appx

On the right-side, double-click on PackageRoot and change the default value data to the location of your SD memory card. For instance, if your SD card’s drive letter is “G”, then enter G:\ in the value data box, and then click Ok button
to set your SD card as default location for apps.

We suggest you create a new folder under the root of your SD card and enter the path of that folder so that you can use the SD card to store other files as well. That is, create a folder named
WinApps on the SD card, enter G:\WinApps (replace “G” with SD card’s drive letter) as the location in value data box.

From now on, whenever you install a new app from the Store, Windows 10 will install them on your SD card.

Thank you for your kind Reply..But Still I didn't get the solution,even I tried above.... I changed the PackageRoot to SD card Drive... But still it is saving in the C Drive. What can I do for that. ?

 

External drive doesn’t show sd card

I have a problem with sd card because I can see it in the File Explorer but cannot see it in the external drive drop down list. I use Nuvision tablet, sd card is a 16 GB one

 

after windows 10 aniversary update, cant read any pen drives or external drives

• I updated my desktop and Surface 3. Both have the same problem: can´t read any pen drives.
• My pen drives read from any other OS, but not from those where have windows 10 aniversary update.
• Tried to do a format in one of those pen drives, and i cant find it to even start formatting. It fails formatting.
• I Erased rollback files, because i tested it out. Everything was ok. When i tried using files from pen drive, it failed.
• Im virus free, have 2 tools here - antivirus and malware.

What should i do? Need your help guys.
