Windows 10: Mouse Left shift key and touch pad

Hello,Recently I am having problems with the Mouse, Left shift key and the touch pad.Machine is Dell Inspirion 7506 2n1.Dell is no help, they say it is H/W but everything works fine in Safe Mode.Mysteriously this started the day my Services Support expired.Left shift key will not capitalize unless I hold it for 1 second and will not capitalize more than 1 letter. Right shift key works like it should.If I hold the left shift key and type a letter less than 1 second it will only do lower case.Mouse will not allow me to select entire text I want to select and chooses ramdomly what it wants. I can

• If it is, are you using the touch-pad and associated keys (please supply name and version of touch-pad) or do you have a separate mouse with USB dongle (please supply name and version of mouse)?

 

Touch Pad pointer is missing.

To help resolve your concern with your missing Touchpad pointer, kindly follow the steps below:

• Press the Windows key on your keyboard for the Menu bar to appear.
• Type Mouse & TouchPad Settings and hit enter.
• Select the last tab that contains the built-in mouse pad.
• Click Enable device.
• Restart your computer.

If issue persists, press and hold Left Alt + Left Shift + Number Lock. You will be prompted to a small box. Use the tab key to select the
Yes option.

Hi Brian,

You can disable Touch pad from the Device Manager. Make sure that the mouse is already plugged in before disabling the touch pad. To disable Touch pad, follow these steps:

• Press and hold Windows logo key + R.
• Type Devmgmt.msc in the Run command dialog box.
• Press Enter.
• Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
• Right-click on the first HID-compliant mouse entry.
• Select Disable.
• Hit Yes.
