  1. Setting Windows 10 to Reboot without Stopping to Admire the Scenery?

A couple of our Windows 10 PCs stop in the middle of reboot with a beautiful photo on the screen. One of them just needs a key tap to continue. The other then asks for one of the users to be selected first. They are configured to restart without password. Both of them used to reboot without the stop. How can they be configured to do that again? It's particularly necessary for the PC with multiple users. It monitors several devices, stores data, and updates a web page, and all that needs to keep happening even when I'm away on vacation.

    Scenery error

    Hi David,

What error dialogue comes up? It could be Scenery or Area missing/not found, or similar. Have you installed any add on scenery prior to this error? Or, maybe installed a payware/freeware scenery enhancement/modification?

Depending on the above, you would do well to uninstall any added scenery. Usually, the Base Scenery is not touched, so won't require deleting. You could do a preliminary check of your Scenery.cfg to ensure that each Area and Layer Number match. So go
here: Your Drive Letter:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\scenery.cfg or go into your FSX Directory and find scenery.cfg (the same list exists in both).

Then slowly scroll down your list (by default, you should have 115 Areas) and as you go down the list, ensure that each Area has a matching Layer number. E.g. Area 004 should have Layer=4; Area 115 should have Layer=115, and so on).

If all the above checks okay, and you still have a Missing/Not Found type error, you could try re-building your Scenery Library, by launching FSX and then go into Settings. Click on Scenery Library and have a check down the list that there isn't anything
that should or shouldn't be there. Then click on Ok. This action should re-build the Library.

If you still have the error coming up and you know that everything is in sequence and any add-on scenery has been removed, then you may well have to do a Repair of FSX (i.e. shut down FSX, and insert Disk 1 into your drive. Then select the Repair option).
This will reinstall any missing files (including Scenery) back into your installation. However, you may lose any add ons, special mapping of controls/configuration files, etc. You will need to go through the whole process again to reinstate everything.

Hope you have success with this.

    Chris

    Selecting an addon scenery airport

Which Flight Sim software are you referring to? If you are using FSX, then the installed add on scenery needs to be at the top of your list in your Scenery Library for it to take priority over the default scenery. FSX will read from Priority 1 downwards
and of course, you will be able to tell the difference between the two when FSX is launched for that area.

Re: your second page of add on airports. Are you referring to the Add on folder in the FSX directory, that contains folders for Scenery and Texture? But then, this is just a list of loaded add ons and are not subject to any page limitations. But first
clarify which Flt. Sim you are using.

Setting Windows 10 to Reboot without Stopping to Admire the Scenery?

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
