Windows 10: Can no longer reorder folders in "Frequent Folders" quick access

Until recently, I could just drag folders up and down to reorder them - now when I try to do so I only get the option to copy them to other folders and it's impossible to move them around on the Quick Access screen. To the best of my knowledge, I didn't change any settings or do anything that would have caused this change.I saw an old thread that suggested removing and re-adding the system folders documents, pictures, etc... I did so, but it didn't allow me to reorder the files and now my system folders are stuck at the bottom of Quick Access. That old thread is now locked last post circa

Not working for me. Here's the strange thing: I can reorder the Windows-default Quick Access items (Desktop, Downloads, Documents, Pictures), but I CANNOT reorder folders that I have pinned to Quick Access

 

Quick Access is missing "Frequent Folders" and "Recent Files"

Thanks for the explanation and sorting tips, ThePhinx. I'm now using the "Recent Items" workaround in my File Explorer jump list.

One thing that I hadn't realized was that the (now useless) "Recent Folders" entry pinned in the jump list is somehow linked to its instance pinned to the Quick Access list. Removing it from the jump list removes it from Quick Access, which is not what
I intended. So I'll have to live with a non-working "Recent Folders" in my jump list, I guess.

It's somewhat annoying that I cannot reorder the jump list to move "Recent Folders" lower in the list. I want "Recent Folders" at the top of my Quick Access list, but at the bottom of my jump list. Windows does not seem to allow that.

I want to say THANK YOU to PaulTurvill. I had been unable to reorder the Quick Access List, and this problem was significantly hindering my work. However, Paul's explanation was excellent. It solved the problem!
