Windows 10: why can i not reactivate my windows after changing hardware?

    why can i not reactivate my windows after changing hardware?


    Ive recently upgraded pretty much everything in my pc as it was all pretty outdated, when i try to reactivate windows it comes up with the error 0x803F700F after scouring through the windows website, the error code apparently doesnt exist, it just keeps telling me to buy a new copy of windows, I refuse to pay the extortionate prices that the charge for a copy of windows after paying already, I dont have a copy of the original key I had as i stupidly left the sticker opn the inside of an old tower I had back in the day, I thought all of the activation licenses where linked to you microsoft acco

    I just changed motherboards, and When I follow the the steps listed in the "reactivate windows 10 after hardware change" support page, it gives me the message "unable to activate windows" message after I sign in and identify my device,
    with no error code, just a subheader that says "can't activate windows 10 on this device, try again later."

    Can't reactivate windows after a hardware change

    Hi,

    I didn't specifically follow the steps to prepare my device for a hardware change, I was unaware.

    My account does appear to be linked as I see this account that I purchased windows 11 on listed as the administrator.

    I have followed the steps for after the hardware change, and with the troubleshooter I get the message 'We can’t find any devices linked to your Microsoft account that can be used for reactivating the device you’re using right now. Make sure you’re signed in with the same Microsoft account you linked to the Windows 10 digital license on this device or try again later'.

    Again I didn't follow the steps to link the digital license to my account, at least to my knowledge.
