  1. Hello, I was recently locked out of my Lenovo laptop after cleaning the fingerprint reader....

At first, it was asking for my password. The one I used to set up my Microsoft account. I cannot remember that password. So, then it asked me for my PIN. I don't recall setting up a PIN. I am able to get into my email using another computer, but that doesn't help me get back into my laptop. If I change the password for my outlook email, would that help me gain access to my laptop in which I am currently locked out of? Would it be an instant change, or do I have to wait 30 days for it to take affect? Please help. I need to get back into that laptop. I used Microsoft account to set it up. I alre

  2. Windows Hello not available with Digital Persona Fingerprint Reader

I think writing in community comes to an end. Long time written that Digital Persona UrU 4500 fingerprint reader supported by Windows Hello or not. Got lot of suggestions and followed. Recently Microsoft has changed the compatibility portal with it's own
products. There is no place for other brands. Previously this fingerprint reader showed in the same portal as a windows 10 compatible device. Recently I am on Insider Preview Build 10565 from stable Build 10240. But this major issue not fixed after following
    all necessary steps.
I think Lock Screen is related with Hello. Defaults pictures & Windows Spotlight Pictures showing & changing fine. But no lock screen with pictures coming after hitting lock button or win+L. Only as usual password or PIN lock screen coming. I don't know
these two problem will fix or not.
    1. DISM.exe result fine.
    2. sfc/scannow is OK. etc.

  3. Fingerprint reader not working after Windows updates

    Hi,

I have a Lenovo Yoga C930-131KB laptop (Type 81C4), and the recent update disabled my fingerprint reader.

I've tried reinstalling the drivers, and manually updating the drivers from the Lenovo website. No luck.

    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Lenovo X380 Fingerprint reader showing "disconnected": any fixes?

Here's my situation. I've got a Lenovo X380 Yoga with a built-in fingerprint reader. After recent Windows updates, the fingerprint reader disappeared. After digging into DevMgr, I find that this Biometric device is only viewable when I click the "Show hidden devices" option, and it shows the following status when I do that:

Hello, I was recently locked out of my Lenovo laptop after cleaning the fingerprint reader.... 234179d1558190753t-lenovo-x380-fingerprint-reader-showing-disconnected-any-fixes-image.png

I've tried updating/reinstalling the drivers (and the Intel SGX device that bridges from the peripherals bus to the system circuitry apparently) and the status remains disconnected. I have not even moved the machine around much since I got it about six weeks ago. I'm inclined to believe that the fingerprint reader has failed. Can anyone offer an alternate diagnosis or a different repair strategy?

TIA for your input and suggestions.

    --Ed--

PS: the unit is under warranty and I can ship it back to Lenovo for repair and diagnosis for the cost of shipment. Curiously that's about the same cost as that for purchasing a new replacement fingerprint reader. I'm wondering further if I shouldn't just order a replacement and do the repair myself. Thoughts?
