  1. How to change C:/Users/username without messing with/breaking existing programs

I'm currently dissatisfied with the current username under my C:/Users/username folder. However, upon following this guide, using the Method 2 described, it managed to change it, but now I lost a lot of my desktop icons, background wallpaper, and I assume other important data for my applications before changing the filenames and usernames back so that it all got restored. Is there a way to update my username without breaking all my existing programs? This is what I used to change my username:https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/how-to-change-username-on-pc-located-in-cusers-in/

  2. Changing C:\Users\USERNAME

When setting up a computer, you are initially prompted to create a username. Once this name is created, how can it be changed?

To be clear, you can change your personal account name (found under Settings>Account>Your Info), but this does not change C:\Users\USERNAME (or whatever drive your OS is on). To change this, I have tried to edit the registry (as detailed

    here
). However, when doing this, I am unable to log into my account and have the need to setup a temporary account to recover to the old C:\Users\USERNAME state. How can I change this drive name?

    Thanks for your time

Changed username but "C:\Users\UserName" is not reflecting change

    Hello all,

I am having an issue where my username is causing errors in other software. The reason is because my username has a space in it, and certain engineering software I use cannot reach files in that folder or any subfolders.

To remedy this I changed my username by replacing the space with an underscore. I did this in "Control Panel > User Accounts > Change Your Account Name", however this only changed my display name - it had no effect on the C:\Users\UserName folder.

How can I change this folder to reflect my new username, with no spaces?

    Thanks in advance,

    David

  4. How to change C:/Users/username without messing with/breaking existing programs

    Username change in C: drive

I tried to change my username in powershell and now when I run as admin in powershell, Get-LocalUser gives me the username that I tried adding. Although in cmd window, c:\Users still shows the old one.

And in cmd window, it reads user - Alias not found if I type wmic user account list full .
