Windows 10: Windows 11 opening files on network as read only

I have a very small business and am running a network with 2 desktop computers and a laptop accessing it. The network is set up on a desktop running Windows 10. We recently replaced the other desktop and it is running windows 11. When accessing files from the new desktop Windows 11 all files are opening "read only". We have spent hours researching online, youtube and microsoft forums and can not figure out how to remove the "read only" status.
