HiI have a 6 year old medion Windows10 laptop where the screen froze. On trying restart I received the blue screen error message “Your pc ran into a problem and needs to restart as soon as we’re finished collecting some error info”Automatic repair did not work and I was asked for my BitLocker code.On entering this I was offered 2 options - restart or advanced optionsWhen trying to use any of the troubleshoot options, apart from Start up repair which failed and took me back to where I started I was asked for my account password.I used my Microsoft passwordwhich works on my mobile but this w

Windows 10 Password for Startup Repair

Hi,

Startup repair keeps on rejecting my windows 10 password and I am very sure it is my correct password as I use it in logging in to microsoft website. I have two step verification on. Does that affect the password? I tried generate app password but still
not working.

• Are you using a Local account or Microsoft account?
• When you say, "Microsoft reject my correct password", are you referring to Microsoft account password?
• When you say, "try to play a game" which game are you referring to? Is it Windows Store game or any other game?
• Have you installed any third party anti-virus on your system?

Microsoft account doesn't accept reset correct password

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.



We understand the difficulties you are facing while login to the PC using your Microsoft account.



In this scenario, we would suggest you to perform these steps and check if you are able to sign with the correct login credential in Safe mode. Also check if you are connected the PC to the internet, preferably through Ethernet cable.

1. At the login screen click on the power symbol.
   
2. Hold SHIFT key in the keyboard and click Restart.
   
3. After restarting your system, select the Troubleshoot option.
   
4. Select advanced options under
   Troubleshoot screen.
   
5. Click on Startup Settings
   
6. Click Restart and follow the onscreen steps to go to Safe Mode
   
7. Login with the correct password using the onscreen keyboard.
