Windows 10: What happens when host file is in mb???

Okay, I'm adding too many entries that need to be blocked. Due to this, my host size became 2.72 MB I still haven't saved the file. If I save that 2.72 MB host file, will something happen, like an internet problem or a related search?Pls guide me if I should save those that are not, also tell consequencescuz that file is important to me

Hosts file editing

I have to jump in and say I use, and have used the host file for years. It's an easy way to take stress off of old name servers. I don't add everything, but major shares I do add to the host file. I've used the host file for some tunneling as well. I try to optimize my network as much as possible and I have a solid network. But Easy Rhino is right as well, you'll want to have everything he suggested as well. *Toast :toast:

You're saying that Open DNS(and other services like it) house their own list of known 'bad' sites, and by using their DNS servers, it will filter out sites based on that list?

Would you believe I was already using Open DNS servers.
This means the hosts file is moot?

And furthering that, if there's any bespoke sites I want to manually add, I could do it through my router directly.

Thus I can empty my local hosts file and turn my DNS service back on?

Thanks for the suggestions, Hazey. It has helped a bit, but not a huge amount. I've got it down to 70 MB in use, 17 MB free. The only one of your suggestions that I haven't followed was the one about switching the messaging folders from C: to E:. When
I tried switching, I just lost everything in my message folders on C:. Is there any way of copying these messages over?

I still have the 36 MB 'other files' listed when I check the memory details, which is really bugging me.
