Windows 10: Changing my refresh rate for a projector broke all my displays

I have windows 11 and i have 4 displays: 2 monitors, one projector, and a display port dummy plug for remote desktop. the dummy plug were defaulted at 30hz refresh rate, and the two monitors were at 60. I noticed some stutter in the projector and so i was trouble shooting with the manufacturer. The benq ht5550 is capable of 60hz at 4k. So I decided to switch to 60hz in the display properties.When I did so both monitors started turning on and off again. There was no way to use the computer at all. If i unplugged both monitors and had the dummy plug and projector in, the projector would work de

Refresh rate Problem

Screen refresh rate is the rate at which the data displayed on screen is refreshed; it may be an image or some text document. Most of the users would like to set it to a higher rate but this also depends on the capacity of graphic
card and monitors. If the refresh rate is slow, the images on the display looks as flickering to the user eye and makes it uncomfortable to work.

Nowadays the latest monitors available in market will have minimum 60 Hz of refresh rate and it is very good option to set it to 70 Hz if you your monitor is compatible. Normally a high performance or quality monitors can reach
120 Hz of refresh rate. So I would suggest you to set your monitor refresh rate as higher as possible, below given steps describes how to access this feature on your Windows 8.1/10 PC.

• The default refresh rate setting is 60 Hertz (HZ); however, your monitor may support a higher setting. Check your manufacturer's documentation for information about the settings that your monitor supports.
• If you use a higher refresh rate, you can reduce the rate that your screen flickers; however, if you specify a refresh rate that is too high for your monitor, your screen may become unusable and your hardware may be damaged.
• Changes to the refresh rate affect all users that log on to the computer.

I would, as of now, suggest you to visit the computer manufacturer's support website and install the latest display and chipset drivers available for the latest operating system (currently it would be 8.1 in the list).

This might lead to FPS instabilities in games or applications. However, I do recommend utilizing the higher refresh rate for a smoother experience. If you encounter FPS lag spikes in-game, you can always lower the refresh rate to see if the performance improves.

1. Right-click on an empty space on your desktop and select "NVIDIA Control Panel" from the context menu.
   
2. In the NVIDIA Control Panel, under the "Display" section, click on "Change resolution".
   
3. In the "Change resolution" window, you should see your monitor listed. If you have multiple monitors connected, make sure to select the one you want to change the refresh rate for.
   
4. Next to the "Refresh rate" dropdown, click on it and select the desired refresh rate, which in your case should be 144Hz.
   
5. Click "Apply" to save the changes.
   
6. Windows may prompt you to keep the new settings. Click "Keep changes" to confirm
