  1. Make RDP redirected COM-ports visible in the device manager?

I have tried to search for a solution with no luck so I hope some here can give me an answer. The scenario: I have a virtual computer that I am connecting to over RDP. On the VM I am running programs that needs to communicate with serial devices that are plugged in to the client computer. I have activated COM-port forwarding on the client when I am connecting and both the client and the VM have the drivers installed for the devices. Both the client and the VM is running Windows 11. I have the same problem on another setup where the client is running Windows 11 and the VM is running Windows Ser

  2. PORT not visible in device manager

i don't see the option port in device manager

i tried various method to make it visible that were available on internet but non of them is working for me

    i tried following methods

1--i turned on show hidden devices on from view menu

    2--i updated all my drivers

3--i tried to add port manually from action>add legacy hardware>install the hardware i manually select from list>ports(com&lpt)>standard port type>communication pot>install

in third method when i again run add legacy hardware it shows that the hardware is no longer present

previously i am sure that the port option was visible

but don,t know actually how it disappeared

and whenever i connect usb drive it is shown under portable device and not under port

any suggestion how should i proceed???

  3. Nested Webcam RDP Redirection

    Hello,

I have created a VM on my Windows 10 machine and have been able to RDP into the VM and my hardware webcam passes into the VM through RDP well. The camera shows up in the VM Device Manager as 'Remote Desktop Camera devices' > 'HOST-PC - HD WebCam'.

Next, on the VM that I am RDP'd into, I open another remote desktop connection to another external PC. I am able to connect to this PC by RDP fine, but the Webcam object does not pass through from the VM to the external PC. When I check in the Remote Desktop
Connection options, under the Local Resources tab, and click on 'More', I do not see the 'HOST-PC - HD WebCam' device listed under Video capture devices on the VM, even though it is listed in Device Manager.

Is there a way to get Windows to treat this redirected camera as a local camera so that it can be further redirected to a third machine?

Another way to ask my essential question - can you pass a camera through multiple nested RDP sessions?

    Thanks for your assistance,

    Aaron

  4. Make RDP redirected COM-ports visible in the device manager?

Remote USB device not visible with RDP

Depending on what client you are using for RDP might change it slightly, but the official from Microsoft:

For your issue I can suggest you to check group policy setting “Do not allow drive redirection” must be disabled under following path.

    Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Device and Resource Redirection

It may also help to use an account that has admin on that machine.

Scraped from:Local client drives visible but not accessible
