I'm nearing final steps in updating a customized OEM production Windows 11 Pro image for a Lenovo V14g4, upgrading from 22H2 to 24H2, and have had to work through many, many issues more than ever before for past versions of Windows. But I've gotten through them all, up to this one. I'm in Audit mode with default Administrator user, trying to generalize after which I plan to update the USMT.ppkg with scanstate and then switch to WinPE to make a few last-second edits on the offline image before capturing it with DISM. I've already done this earlier, made a few updates and appended to t

  2. Win10 1809 broke Sysprep AGAIN.

Blows up trying to run sysprep due to pre-installed Appx packages, YET AGAIN.

I don't have the actual errors, because my virtual machines are being ugly about clipboard sharing, but basically it complained about BingNews appx package being unable to be removed due to be in a staging? I dunno. This is back to the same issues I was
having with 1709 breaking sysprep, forcing me to write a series of scripts to remove every known Appx package that could be installed into a new Windows 10 installation.

Guess I'll have to dig that script back out and update it. Can we please stop breaking this?

    Hi,

Sysprep has an additional provider that's added in Windows 10 and Windows 8 to clean Appx packages and to generalize the image. The provider works only if the Appx package is a per-user package or an all-user provisioned package.
