Wi-Fi Randomly Disconnects on PC Only...Driver Updated, Still No Fix

Hi I'm experiencing a frustrating Wi-Fi issue that only affects my Windows PC and not any other device in my house. Before, I had crazy ping drops and couldn't play certain online games because of that ping. despite my PC being a gaming rig with solid specs After some research and troubleshooting, I went to the official Realtek website and manually downloaded and installed the most recent network driver for my Wi-Fi adapter. old 2011, new 2017. That actually solved the ping issue! However, a new problem started to occur. Now, my Wi-Fi, at random times of the day, randomly disconnects entir

  2. Wi-Fi is disconnected by the driver!?!!

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

Based on the detailed information you've provided, it appears that your Wi-Fi connectivity issue, particularly with the Intel(R) Wireless-AC 9560 160MHz adapter, involves sporadic disconnections and failures to connect to an open network at your local coffee shop. The issue seems to have been temporarily resolved by waiting and retrying the connection, suggesting it might not be a persistent hardware or driver issue but rather a problem related to the network environment or the adapter's interaction with it at that moment. Here are some steps and considerations to help you address and potentially mitigate this issue:

    Network Environment Factors

    • Router Overload: Open networks, especially in busy places like coffee shops, can experience high traffic, leading to temporary disconnections or connection failures for some devices.
    • Interference: Wi-Fi signals can be affected by physical obstructions and interference from other wireless devices. The quality of the connection can vary depending on your proximity to the router and the level of interference.
    Wi-Fi Adapter Settings

    • Power Management: Ensure that the power management settings for the Wi-Fi adapter do not allow the computer to turn off the device to save power. You can check this in the Device Manager under the "Power Management" tab for your Wi-Fi adapter.
    • Driver Update: Although your driver version is relatively recent (22.240.0.6 from June 18, 2023), it's wise to check the manufacturer's website or use the Intel Driver & Support Assistant to ensure there are no newer drivers that could improve stability or compatibility.
    Wi-Fi Profile Corruption

    • Sometimes, the profile saved for a particular network can become corrupted, leading to connection issues. Try forgetting the network (Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks) and then reconnecting, which will create a new profile.
    Router Issues

    • Since the issue seems to be intermittent and related to a specific network, it's possible that the router itself is occasionally failing to respond properly to connection attempts. Unfortunately, this is outside your control, but restarting the router can often resolve such issues. You might want to mention this to the coffee shop staff if the problem persists.
    System Network Troubleshooter

    • Running Windows' built-in network troubleshooter can sometimes identify and resolve connectivity issues automatically. You can access this by going to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Internet Connections.
    Consider an External Wi-Fi Adapter

    • If the issue persists and significantly affects your productivity, consider using an external USB Wi-Fi adapter as a workaround. These devices can offer an alternative means to connect to Wi-Fi networks and may bypass the issues you're experiencing with the built-in adapter.
Given the sporadic nature of the problem and its resolution upon waiting and retrying, it's likely an issue that can be mitigated through adjustments to settings, awareness of environmental factors, and keeping your system's drivers and OS up to date. However, if the problem becomes more frequent or severe, it may warrant further investigation into potential.

Please feel free to let me know how it goes.

  3. Wi-Fi disconnect

Windows doesn't disconnect a properly working WiFi. Mine NEVER disconnects since the last time I restarted my computer. I suggest to check for near-by WiFi radios to see if your channel is too crowded or if all the channels are crowded, just switch to 5 GHz band like mine

AirPods Disconnecting WI-FI on Windows 10

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

The issue you’re experiencing with your AirPods causing Wi-Fi to disconnect on your Windows 10 laptop is likely due to wireless interference or a problem with the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi coexistence settings on your laptop. Both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi devices operate on the 2.4GHz frequency and can sometimes interfere with each other.

Here are a few steps you can try to fix the problem:

    1. Update Drivers:
      • Ensure that your Bluetooth and Wi-Fi drivers are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website or use the Windows Device Manager to update your drivers.
    2. Change Wi-Fi Band:
      • If your router supports it, switch your Wi-Fi connection to the 5GHz band instead of 2.4GHz. This can reduce interference since Bluetooth uses the 2.4GHz frequency.
    3. Disable Bluetooth Collaboration:
      • Some network adapters have a setting that helps with the coexistence of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Go to Device Manager, find your Wi-Fi adapter under the Network adapters section, and open Properties. Under the Advanced tab, look for 'Bluetooth Collaboration' or a similar setting and disable it.
    4. Adjust Bluetooth Power Settings:
      • In Device Manager, under the Bluetooth adapter’s properties, in the Power Management tab, uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."
    5. Change Wi-Fi Adapter Settings:
      • Similarly, in the Wi-Fi adapter’s properties under the Advanced tab, you might find settings that can be adjusted to improve coexistence with Bluetooth devices, like changing the "Wireless Mode" to a setting that might be more compatible with Bluetooth enabled.
    6. Check for System Updates:
      • Make sure your Windows 10 is up to date with the latest patches and updates as they can contain fixes for such issues.
    7. Troubleshoot Hardware:
      • Try connecting your AirPods to another laptop to see if the problem persists. If it does, the issue may be with the AirPods themselves. Conversely, try connecting a different Bluetooth device to your laptop to see if it causes the same problem.
If none of these solutions work, it could be a deeper issue with the laptop's hardware or a unique compatibility issue between your specific model of AirPods and laptop. In such cases, you may need to contact the laptop's manufacturer or consider using a USB Bluetooth dongle as an alternative to the built-in Bluetooth adapter, which may help avoid the interference issue.
